Liberians Rally for "Justice for Jessica" in Monrovia Protest

Led by former Monrovia City Mayor and Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change, Jefferson Koijee, a group of Liberians staged a protest in Monrovia demanding justice for Jessica Lloyd.

The organizers of the protest expressed outrage over what they perceived as an injustice in the case involving Jessica Lloyd and her American husband, Lucas Richard. They accused the Liberian court of favoring Richard and termed the ruling as "a mockery of justice."

Jessica Lloyd had accused her husband, Lucas Richard, an American missionary, of attempting to murder her by cutting her throat with a knife earlier in 2024. However, the court ruled in favor of Richard, citing a lack of evidence to convict him.

The protest underscores public discontent and calls for accountability within the judicial system, as demonstrators demand a fair and impartial resolution to the case.
